People > Dan Frakes

Dan Frakes is a senior editor at Macworld where he covers…well, pretty much everything. He’s also, as his Twitter bio says, a tech writer, AV geek, sports fan, and dad. Over the past 15 years, he’s written and edited books, published software, worked in IT, been a consultant, and had a fancy office as a public-policy analyst—not in that order, or in any other order that might make sense. His first tech claim to fame was publishing an ebook so long ago that they didn’t yet call them ebooks. And that doesn’t make him feel old. Not at all.

The Incomparable #71: The Holiday Movie Vault

December 18, 2011 at 12:30pm • 1 hour 10 minutes

Grab some eggnog and hitch up your reindeer! It’s time to put six holiday films in the Incomparable Film Vault! We discuss some beloved classics and offer a few surprise choices that redefine what “holiday” and “film” actually mean. What is a realistic depiction of Santa? Is Bill Murray’s best Scrooge not actually in “Scrooged”? Has Clarence the angel left a trail of dead bodies behind him? Is Kris Kringle the original Apple Genius? Happy holidays, everyone!

Special guests: Andy Ihnatko, Dan Frakes, Glenn Fleishman, Serenity Caldwell, and Steve Lutz

The Incomparable #41: ...But Your Kids Are Gonna Love It

May 22, 2011 at 2:00pm • 1 hour 14 minutes

Turn on your flux capacitors, calculate how many “jigabytes” your hard drive contrains, and prepare for our deconstruction of the “Back to the Future” movie series. Which film reigns supreme? Plus, we talk about other time-travel movies we love. This episode recorded entirely live in a tiny, enclosed space.

Special guests: Dan Moren, Serenity Caldwell, Lex Friedman, and Dan Frakes
