Breaking Bad cast members including Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul could make cameo appearances in the forthcoming spin-off series, creator Vince Gilligan has revealed. Microsoft's Windows 8.1 update is now available to download. Windows 8 users will see a notification in the Windows Store with a prompt to upgrade to the new operating system. Microsoft has added a number of improvements with this update, including built-in Bing search, smart SkyDrive syncing, and visual changes to the Start Screen and application snapping.
Windows 8 is getting a big name app addition today: Facebook. Microsoft teased plans for an official Facebook app earlier this year at its Build developer event, and the launch coincides with the Windows 8.1 update that's also making its debut today. The app looks just like what you'd expect from a Facebook app, with status, photo, and check in tabs alongside the chat interface that's pinned to the right-hand side.
New icons for the iPhoto and Garageband iOS apps have surfaced in the iCloud Storage Management function under iOS settings, 9to5Mac reports, a move that hints at complete redesigns for both these Apple apps soon. Motorola's Moto Maker site is primarily meant to help customize and purchase a new Moto X, but today the company is adding another feature: the option to transfer your contacts and calendars from an Apple iCloud account to a Google account. The process, according to Motorola's help document, is relatively straightforward. Simply enter in your iCloud credentials, then your Google credentials, and your data will be transferred from one to the other. The service only appears to be offered to new customers who have completed the purchase process at Moto Maker.

All Things D, citing anonymous sources, says the overhaul of messages is coming in "the near future." It comes at a time when messaging apps have exploded globally, with companies like WhatsApp, Line, and Kik attracting users by the hundreds of millions. And it would mark another direct point of competition with Facebook, which has a popular standalone messaging app of its own.
Hulu Plus is now available on the Nintendo 3DS, after a long delay of nearly two years. Back in 2011, Nintendo said that the app would be ready to go by the end of that calendar year, but while Hulu made its way to the Wii around that time, support for the 3DS remained absent. The new app is now available in the Nintendo eShop and supports all members of the 3DS lineup of handhelds, including the new 2DS — though as with other Hulu apps, it'll require a subscription to Hulu Plus in order to stream anything.
